ये लेख एक सच्ची घटना पर आधारित है , लेकिन वैधानिक चेतावनी जारी करते हुए आपको सूचित करुगा की इसे अपने कॉलेज ,संस्थान जैसी जगहों पर ना दोहराये क्योकि इसके नतीजों के दुष्परिणाम हो सकते है

बात उन दिनों की है जब उत्तर प्रदेश के एक छोटे से कसबे का लड़का दिल्ली जैसे बड़े शहर में MBA करने जाता है , यु तो वो भी इंग्लिश मीडियम का छात्र था लेकिन बड़े शहरों के लड़की लड़को में जो कॉन्फिडेंस, स्मार्टनेस और प्रेजेंटेशन स्किल्स होती थी उससे वो उन सब से बहुत पीछे था। MBA में ६० परसेंट कोर्स प्रैक्टिकल और प्रेसेंटेशन्स पर आधारित होता है , लेकिन अब तो ओखली पर सर आ ही चूका था तो मूसल से डर तो निकालना ही था , हाथ पैर कापते थे प्रेजेंटेशन देने में , पोडियम का इस्तेमाल सिर्फ इसलिए होता था ताकि कोई कापते हुए पैर न देख ले और हां प्रेक्टिकल वाले दिन भुखार का वो झूठा बहाना भी काफी मददगार होता था।

प्लेसमेंट्स शुरू होने में बस ३ महीने बचे थे , और इंटरनेशनल प्लेसमेंट्स में अप्लाई करने से पहले हर स्टूडेंट को एक ३० मिनट की प्रेजेंटेशन देनी थी , उसमे फ़ेल होने पर मल्टीनेशनल कंपनी में काम करने का सपना सिर्फ सपना हो जाना था इसलिए हर कोई जीजान से तैयारी में लगा हुआ था।

विदेश में काम करने का सपना मैंने भी देखा था लेकिन प्रेसेनशन की उस प्रेत बाधा से निकलना बार बार मुस्किल हो रहा था। बार बार शीशे के आगे अटक अटक कर एक कोशिश मै भी कर रहा था और आखरी दिन तक अटकता रहा

समय आ गया था , सुबह के ८ बज रहे थे और सजा का समय दोपहर को २ बजे मुकवर हुआ था , एक कैदी से उसकी आखरी इच्छा पूछी जाती है , और अपनी इच्छा पूरी करने वो सीधे पास के ठेके पर ओल्ड मोंक का सहारा लेने पंहुचा , खाली पेट , दिल्ली की गर्मी में ओल्ड मोंक का एक एक पेग तेज़ाब की तरह अंदर जा रहा था , हर एक पेग में टूटते सपने थे , और आँख से सीधे गिलास में गिरते नमकीन आंसू पेग का वजन दोगुना कर रहे थे। लाल लाल आखे ले कर जब कॉलेज पंहुचा तो सब कुछ धुंधला लग रहा था ( सपने भी ) लेकिन डर कही दूर ठेके पर छूट गया। आगे का ज्यादा याद नहीं लेकिन तालियों की गड़गड़ाहट से नशा कुछ कमज़ोर ज़रूर हुआ था और 95 नंबर आये थे उस प्रेजेंटेशन में उसके , सुना था साक्षात " ओल्ड मोंक" ने वो प्रेजेंटेशन दी थी जिसके आशीर्वाद से विदेश भी गया और इंटरनेशनल प्लेसमेंट भी हुई

ये वाक्या युही पिछले हफ्ते याद आया जब पता चला नीतीश कुमार जी ne मदिरा पर पाबंदी लगा दी है , अच्छा कदम है नशा मुक्ति के लिए और इसका स्वागत भी होना चाहिए CM साहब ये भूल गए इसका असर सीधे तौर पर उनकी राज्य की एंग्रेज़ी भाषा पर पड़ेगा , नागिन डांस वाली वो अनूठी कला भी विलुप्ति की कगार पर आ सकती है , " परेशान मत हो तू मेरा छोटा भाई है " जैसे वाक्य सिर्फ किताबी बातें रह जायेगी। हर चीज़ के अपने नफे नुक्सान होते है , बचपन में पढ़ा था ज्यादा दूध पीने से भी दांत की कई बीमारी हो जाती है और एक पेग रोज़ लेने से दिल की बिमारी से बचा जा सकता है

अपनी अपनी ज़िन्दगी है सबको अपने अच्छे बुरे की पहचान है ये तो आप पर निर्भर करता है की " how you make it large "

नया साल तो बस हॉस्टल में होता था

वो भी क्या दिन थे जब 31 दिसम्बर की रात को कोई प्लान नहीं होता था क्यूंकि न जेब में पैसे होते थे और न शहर के डिस्क में stag एंट्री। होती थी तो बस कड़ाके की सर्दी , चार दोस्त, एक old monk और खूब सारे गानों पे बहुत सारा नाच । बस नाच , अच्छा या बुरा, न मायने रखता था न किसी को कोई फ़र्क़ पड़ता था दो पेग के बाद। फिर क्या हिंदी , अंग्रेजी और भोजपुरी गाने, सब माइकल जैक्सन नागिन डांस ही नाचते थे। बाहर खाने जाते थे तो किसी ढाबे पे जहाँ कढ़ाई चिकन और लच्छा परांठा मिलता हो । ये वो दिन थे जब चार बोतल वोडका, काम मेरा रोज का गाना नहीं motto था। रात भर दहला पकड़ होता था और बीच में सिगरेट से छल्ला बनाने का हुनर विकसित किया जाता था। आज कल के लौंडों की तरह टेबल बुक कराने जैसा मामला न था, न Zomato Gold जैसी कोई चीज़ थी लेकिन फिर भी सबसे अच्छी न्यू ईयर पार्टी तो कंगाली के दिनों में ही थी। आज मिल तो सब जाता है लेकिन रात के दो बजे तकिया के नीचे से निकाल के सुट्टा न मिलने पे दिसंबर की ठण्ड में बस स्टैंड तक बड़ी gold-flake लेने चलने वाला दोस्त नहीं मिलता। पूरा सिगरेट का डब्बा पर्स में है लेकिन पता नहीं उस चोरी की सिगरेट को पांच लोगों share करने पर मिलने वाली एक कश कैसे भारी पड़ती है।

ये वो दिन थे जब हफ़्तों बीत जाते थे बिना नहाये और deodorant भी उधार का होता था, नया साल तो बस हॉस्टल में होता था !

फ़ोन उठाओ और किसी दोस्त को बोलो Happy New Year, एडमिन भी दोस्त ही है वैसे !

Follow your Passion wali job

क्या वाकई में UPTU से इंजीनियरिंग करके Follow your Passion वाली नौकरी मिल सकती है।

"मैं कंप्यूटर साइंस का छात्र हू लेकिन मुझे coding में कोई interest नहीं है, क्या मै कुछ और कर सकता हू जैसे journalism या फोटोग्राफी। "
"UPTU में नौकरी तो लगती नहीं है, उसपे तुम्हे मनचाही नौकरी चाहिए, औकात में सोचो"
"GATE या CAT ही रास्ता है, और कोई चारा नहीं है, Core ब्रांच में तो कोई स्कोप ही नहीं है और Bank PO वाली अपनी Apti नहीं है"
"Final ईयर में आ गए और पता ही नहीं है की अपना passion किधर है"

लम्बी सांस लो, तीन बार, एक गिलास पानी पियो, खिड़की से बाहर देखो, हवा को महसूस करो और भरोसा रखो, भगवान से ज्यादा खुद पे क्यूंकि तुम पहले नहीं हो ये महसूस करने वाले और न आखिरी होगे, पीछे पलट के देखो, कितना रस्ता चल आये हो, कहाँ थे और यहाँ तक कैसे आये, सोच के देखो, सब कुछ unplanned ही था ना, फिर planning किस बात की कर रहे हो। जब कोई प्लान कभी नहीं चला तो आगे भी mostly नहीं चलेगा। प्लानिंग destination की करनी ही नहीं है, planning करनी है journey की, मंजिल जो भी हो, journey में struggle पक्का है, planning struggle की करनी है, प्लानिंग उन skill sets की करनी है जो journey में तुम्हे टूटने से बचाएंगे, यकीन मानो इंजीनियरिंग का पढ़ा कुछ काम नहीं आना है लेकिन इंजीनियरिंग में सीखी प्रेशर handling capability , team work , leadership, तुम्हारी नयी चीज़ जल्दी सीखने की quality , mail लिखना, Excel में चार्ट बनाने की छमता, अंग्रेजी भाषा में command, इंजीनियर की तरह problem solving attitude,चमचागिरी और गलत चीज़ें देखकर ethical होने की छमता ये सब काम आएगा।

जब इंजीनियरिंग में होंगे तो सोचोगे की बस कहीं नौकरी लग जाए, बाद में समझोगे की मनचाही नौकरी कितनी ज़रूरी है। नौकरी और मनचाही नौकरी में शायद तीन चार साल निकल गए होंगे, शायद तब भी नहीं समझा होगा की तुम किस चीज़ में वाकई passionate हो लेकिन ये समझ गए होंगे की किस्मे एकदम ही नहीं हो। ये पहला कदम होगा सही दिशा में। धक्के बहुत मिलेंगे, NIT और IIT वालों के सामने बेइज़्ज़ती भी होगी जब उन्हें precedence दी जाएगी, फिर आदत पड़ जाएगी और पता नहीं चलेगा की कब फ़र्क़ पड़ना बंद हो जाएगा। फिर एक दिन NIT और IIT वाले तुम्हे रिपोर्ट करेंगे और फिर भी तुम्हे फ़र्क़ नहीं पड़ेगा क्यूंकि एक लेवल के बाद emotion भी emotionless हो जाते हैं। ये वो समय होगा जब पैकेज के लिए काम नहीं करोगे, कुछ और मिलना चाहिए, ऐसी सोच होगी, भले दो पैसे कम मिले। मन करेगा सब कुछ छोड़ के अपने गाँव में गरीब बच्चों को पढ़ाऊँ, अपनी ज़रूरतें तो ज्यादा कभी थी ही नहीं, रह लेंगे लेकिन वो होम लोन और कार लोन वापिस जाने नहीं देंगे ।

ऑफिस में अपनी डेस्क से बाहर देखते हुए उस कबूतर को देखोगे जो हमेशा तुम्हारी खिड़की में ही बैठता है और सुट्टा मारते हुए सोचोगे की इसके पास पंख है, ये उड़ के कहीं भी जा सकता है लेकिन जाता क्यों नहीं और फिर सिगरेट बुझाते हुए मुस्कुराते हुए सोचोगे की ये बात तो तुमपे भी लागू होती है और वापिस सीट पे आके अपना कोड लिखने बैठोगे, लग जाओगे appraisal, deadline, onsite, जॉब switch की इस rat race में, एक दिन अपने कॉलेज के alumni group से मेल आएगा की कॉलेज में बुलाया है, Guest Lecture में बच्चों को मोटीवेट करने और वहां जा के तुम भी उन्हें 'Follow your Passion ' बोल के आओगे और उस दिन खूब हंसोगे और इतना हँसोगे की रोने लगोगे अपने इंजीनियरिंग के दोस्त से बात करते करते।

रणबीर कपूर की फिल्मे देखते हुए सोचोगे की follow your पैशन शायद एक myth है लेकिन तुम्हारे क्लास का एक लड़का जो पढ़ने में ठीक ठाक था आज एक बड़े ऑनलाइन न्यूज़ वेबसाइट में क्रिकेट और फिल्म review करता है उसको देख के एक बार को ख्याल आएगा की शायद वो सब myth नहीं था बस एक कदम उठाना था जिसकी शायद हिम्मत नहीं जुटा पाया मै।

तब समझोगे की UPTU का उस Passion वालीं नौकरी से तो कोई लेना देना कभी था ही नहीं , उसका लेना देना सिर्फ तुमसे है।

******Theory of Relative Break-Up************

आज कल हर चीज़ relative हो गयी है। physics में relative velocity के concept जैसी …… यहाँ तक की breakup भी

काफी समय से कोशिश करने के बाद भी जब लगा की अब नहीं हो पा रहा है तो एक दिन "'Its over" बोल दिया। सोचा था ये ऐसा होगा की जैसे desktop से Shift -delete करने जैसा। पूरी file एक बार में गायब , ना सुराग , ना सबूत।

लेकिन ऐसा था नहीं , आज कल की ज़िंदगी में breakup absolute नहीं रह गए , वो relative हो गए है। आप शहर बदल सकते हो , नौकरी बदल सकते हो लेकिन वो जाते नहीं , फेसबुक से उनको तो unfriend कर सकते हो लेकिन क्लास के 58 mutual friends की वजह से वो timeline में आ ही जाते हैं | आप reference फ्रेम बदल सकते है , force के component नहीं.

Whatsapp group हो या instagram ना चाहते हुए भी आपको उनका हर टैग आ ही जाता है , मैंने शहर बदल लिया , नौकरी बदल ली , number तक बदल लिया लेकिन कुछ फाइल्स Operating system ही corrupt कर देती है और अगर system format भी कर दो तो कुछ नीछ दोस्त बैकअप लेकर घूमते रहते हैं , तुरंत CD लगा के फिर upload कर देते हैं , दारु शायद आज के युग की time मशीन है। पीते ही फिर उसी दौर में पहुँच जाते हैं जहाँ आज भी आतिफ और मै साथ साथ गाते है , " गुलाबी आँखें जो तेरी देखी , शराबी ये दिल हो गया ". आज भी उस अनजान शहर की गलियों में उसको ढूंढता मैं और भगवान की की तरह प्रकट होती वो याद है , उसका चेहरा अब ज़ेहन में धुंधला गया है कुछ वैसे ही जैसे 19 का पहाड़ा , धुन में गाऊंगा तो शायद आज भी याद आ जाए

Breakup एक शब्द नहीं है , एक जज़्बात है , एक पूरा वक़्त है , मेरा एक हिस्सा है , break up, velocity की तरह relative होते हैं . "its over " और "I finally moved on" में एक बहुत लम्बा वक़्त होता है . बहुत लम्बा।

कुछ घाव वक़्त नहीं भर पाता , बस उनके साथ रहने की आदत डाल देता है

हाँ इंजिनीरिंग के बाद मैं बैंक में काम करता हू , तो तुम्हारे बाप का क्या जाता है। हाँ कटवारिया सराय में की थी NTPC और BHEL की तैयारी , नहीं निकला , कुछ दिन मास्टर बनने का भी सोचा था लेकिन वहां तो सिर्फ boring और पढ़ीस जाते हैं तो उन्होंने भी नहीं लिया ,कॉलेज का प्लेसमेंट शुन्य बटा सन्नाटा है तो बैंगलोर भी गया था walk -in पे , नहीं हुआ , C++ पूछ रहे थे और मैं ठहरा इलेक्ट्रिकल का लौंडा (वैसे इलेक्ट्रिकल भी पूछ लेते तो क्या ही बता पाता) . समझ आ गया की भाई कुछ नहीं रखा है इस प्राइवेट नौकरी में , पतली गली से कट लिया , आज सरकारी बैंक में PO हू , हाँ पोस्टिंग महाराष्ट्र के अकोला में हुई है लेकिन नेक्स्ट पोस्टिंग में पहुँच जाऊंगा सीतापुर के पास लखीमपुरखीरी की किसी ब्रांच में और तुम फुनसुनक वांगडू समझने वालों रहना 1BHK में दिल्ली , मुंबई और बैंगलोर के। जीतते बड़े घर होते हैं न तुम्हारे शहरों में , उतने में तो हम UP वाले कूलर रखते हैं , और हाँ क्या कहते हो तुम 'Monotonous जॉब है हमारी " , तुम कौन से National Geographic channel में काम कर रहे हो बे , TCS , Accenture और wipro में ओन-साइट के मोह में घिस रहे हो , ये जन धन योजना से pressure आ गया है लेकिन गुरु तुम्हारी तरह 16 घंटे वाला काम नहीं करता हू , और हाँ ये जो alternate saturday Off घोषित हुआ है न , इसका मतलब पता है - saturday 'छुट्टी' रहेगी। कोई माई का लाल बुला के दिखा दे alternate saturday , बॉस छोडो , रघुराम राजन भी नहीं बुला सकता , तुम्हारी तरह saturday को work from home नहीं करते हम , खुद को ये सांत्वना भी नहीं देते की घर में गर्मी है तो आ गए AC में मुफ्त की चाय पीने।
क्या बोलते हो , technical पढ़ाई करके बैंक में ही जाना था तो बी टेक क्यों किया , भाई बात ऐसी है की बीएससी में नही हो रहा था , इंजीनियरिंग में हो गया , और रही बात non -technical काम की तो सालों तुम कौन सा Operating System बना दिए हो बे , Cut -Copy -Paste करते हो सॉफ्टवेयर companies में और खुद को टेक्निकल कहते हो। भाई साहब , इंजीनिरिंग डिग्री नहीं है , एक सोचने का तरीका है , इंजीनियरिंग का मूल सिद्धांत पता है ,"Optimum utilization of Resources" . चाहे advertising हो या politics , Management हो या बैंकिंग हम जहाँ भी जाते हैं न , वहां कुछ थोड़ा सा innovation करना, थोड़ा सा काम आसान करना भी भी इंजीनियरिंग है , लोग मेरे बैंक में cash deposit के लिए एक घंटे line में खड़े रहते थे , उनको टोकन देके बैठने देना भी इंजीनियरिंग है.
ऐसा नहीं है की सब अच्छा है,ऐसा नहीं है की मै ambitious नहीं हू , लेकिन जब तुमने सीतापुर और मुंबई में मुंबई को चुना था तो मैंने सीतापुर चुना है, मैं माँ -बाप से अभी skype पे बात करता हु लेकिन अगले साल घर में बैठ के गप्पे मारूंगा , फिर जब किसी बैंक वाले इंजीनियर का मज़ाक उड़ाना तो सोचना की क्या कह सकते हो ये बात १००% confidence से

फिर कभी ये मत बोलना की इंजीनियरिंग करके बैंक में क्यों......

टीचर्स डे

उम्र - बस इत्ती कि स्कूल और मम्मी-पापा के नाम की स्पेलिंग याद हो पायी है.
बहाना - पेट में दर्द था.

उम्र - इतनी कि स्कूल जाने के लिए साइकिल और साथ ले जाने के लिए कुछ रूपये मिलने लगे थे.
बहाना - लाइट नहीं आ रही थी.

उम्र - इतनी कि शर्ट के कॉलर का बटन बंद होना और बाज़ू नीचे रहनी भूल चुकी थीं.
बहाना - प्रोजेक्ट सबमिट करना था.

उम्र - इतनी कि दोस्तों के साथ मनाली और देहरादून अकेले घूम लिया था और कॉलेज के बगल में गुमटी पर खाता चलने लगा था.
बहाना - कोई नहीं. क्लास कौन जाता है?

उम्र के पड़ाव बीतते जाते हैं, होमवर्क न पूरा होने के बहाने बदलते जाते हैं लेकिन वो एक शख्स हमेशा कॉमन रहता है. सब्जेक्ट बदलते हैं, नाम बदलते हैं, बोल-चाल बदल जाती है, खड़ूस होने की सीमा बढ़ या घट जाती है लेकिन टीचर वहीँ मौजूद रहता है. अपने डस्टर और चाक के डब्बे के साथ.
सूरदास ने कहा था कि दुष्ट, काले कम्बल के समान होते हैं जिनपर दूसरा कोई रंग नहीं चढ़ता. दरअसल उनके समय में चाक और डस्टर का ईज़ाद नहीं हुआ था वरना देखते वो भी कि कैसे दीवाल में जड़े एक काले बोर्ड पे चाक घिस घिस के हम जैसे दुष्टों की नइय्या पार लगाने वाले लोग भी हैं. वो लोग जिन्हें हम सर या मैडम कहते हैं.

आज टीचर्स डे है. स्कूल में होते तो क्लास सजाते. जियोग्राफी वाली मैडम के लिए कुर्सी ठीक पंखे के नीचे रक्खी थी और पंखे के ऊपर चाँद-सितारे, फूल, रंगीन काग़ज़ के टुकड़े रक्खे थे और उनके बैठते ही पंखा चलाया गया था और वो सारा मलबा उनपर उड़ता हुआ आ गिरा था. बस पांच से छः सेकंड का मजा था लेकिन वो गजब ख़ुश हो गयीं थीं. क्लास टीचर थीं वो हमारी. पूरी क्लास को एक-एक पेटीज़ और साथ में एक फ़्रूटी का पैकेट दिलवाया था. मेरी बेस्ट-फ्रेंड एक लड़की थी जिसके साथ ही मैं घर वापस जाता था. उस दिन घर जाते वक़्त पूरे रास्ते हम यही बात कर रहे थे कि मैम हल्का सा रोईं थीं या बस हमको ही ऐसा लग रहा था. वैसे आज सोचो तो लगता है कि हमने भी किसी ज़माने में राहुल गाँधी वाली हरकतें की हैं.

कुछ दिन पहले वो बैंक में काम करने वाली पोस्ट में किसी ने लिखा था कि 'जो कुछ नहीं कर पाते फैकल्टी बन जाते हैं'. मैं ऐसे लोगों से मिला और पढ़ा हूँ जिन्होनें बहुत कुछ किया और फैकल्टी बन गए और इसके बाद भी बहुत कुछ करते रहे. हमें तमीज़ सिखाना भी उनके 'बहुत कुछ' करने का एक हिस्सा था. जो भी है, लेक्चर नहीं देंगे, वो काम फैकल्टी का होता है. हम तो बस इतना ही कह रहे हैं कि जो कुछ नहीं कर पाने वालों को थोड़ा-बहुत कर पाने लायक बना देते हैं वो ही फैकल्टी बन पाते हैं.

हमको दो मिनट के लिए गेस्ट-फैकल्टी मान लो और जो कहते हैं सुनो. अपने टीचर्स का नंबर निकालो. न नंबर मिले तो फेसबुक पे ढूंढो. ई-मेल आई-डी तो होगा ही. कॉल करो, वाल पे लिखो, मेसेज करो, मेल करो, और उनको थैंक-यू और सॉरी दोनों ही बोलो. थैंक यू इसलिए कि जिस भी लायक हो, उसका एक बहुत बड़ा श्रेय उन्हें भी जाता है और सॉरी इसलिए कि अक्सर जब वो तुम्हें एक बेहतर इंसान बनाने की कोशिश में लगे हुए थे, उस वक़्त तुम अपने कॉलर के बटन खोले और शर्ट की बाजू चढ़ाये यही सोच रहे थे कि 'जिसे कुछ नहीं करना आता वो फैकल्टी बन जाता है.'

~एक इंजीनियर की खब्त

ये जो लड़कियाँ होती हैं न, ये internet browser सी होती हैं. मैं इंजीनियर हूँ इसलिए आदत से मजबूर हूँ. इससे बेहतर example सूझ नहीं रहा. Internet browser ऐसे कि जब जो जी में आया, वो पेज visit किया और जब जी में आया, tab close कर एक नया tab खोल लिया. अक्सर जब कुछ ऐसे पेज खुल जाते हैं जिनके link वो और देर अपने system में नहीं रखना चाहतीं, तो history erase कर देतीं हैं.

लड़के वो होते हैं जो इन browser से wallpapers डाउनलोड करते हैं. अक्सर कई wallpaper होते हैं जिन्हें हम अपनी hard-disk में C://Windows/System32 में Data नाम का फोल्डर बना कर रखते हैं. पर गाहे-बगाहे, एक wallpaper हम ऐसा भी डाउनलोड कर लेते हैं जिसे हमने अपना deaktop wallpaper बनाने का सपना संजोया होता है. यकीन मानिये उस दिन के बाद से System32 भी एक क्लिक को तरसता है और बस वो उस एक डाउनलोड की हुई JPG फ़ाइल को घंटो Picture Gallery में preview करते हुए एक असीमित deadlock में चला जाता है. रंज सिर्फ़ इस बात का है कि इस desktop wallpaper की जगह ले सकने वाला wallpaper न ही किसी संता-बंता के बस की बात मालूम देता है और न ही google images की.

कल रात अपने desktop wallpaper से फ़ोन पर बात हुई. आखिरी बार शायद. मालूम चला कि browser history काफ़ी दिन हुए erase की जा चुकी है. मैंने लाख system restore to previous restore point का इस्तेमाल करना चाहा पर हर बार ये task मेरे admin rights से बाहर मिला. मैं अपने system से account को log off तो कर चुका हूँ पर sleep mode में नहीं रख पा रहा. Improper shut down में हार्ड डिस्क corrupt होने का खतरा है. मुसीबत से निबटने को कोई सिस्टम इंजीनियर हो तो ज़रूर इत्तेला करें.

आप US में silicon valley में tech giants से मिल रहे हैं और यहाँ मैं घर से कुछ 1800 km दूर अपने 1 रूम kitchen में अपने एक बिहारी दोस्त के साथ रहता हू। क्या है न यहाँ बैंगलोर में UP -बिहार सब एक होते हैं - 'North Indians'. यही बोलते हैं हमे , घर से दूर यहाँ मैं 'सॉफ्टवेयर developer who works on java platform' , मेरा बिहारी दोस्त एक टेलीकॉम कंपनी में Tester है। घर वालों से मैं skype पे बात कर लेता हूँ (लखनऊ में नेताजी का सुशासन जो है ) , वो नहीं कर पाता , छपरा में 2G चल पाये , वोई बहुत है , आज भी रात को लाइट आँख -मिचोली खेलती है ( मेरा रूम मेट यादव है , कहता है लालू ने यादवों के लिए बहुत किआ है छपरा में) , खैर मेरे जैसे बहुत सारे लोग UP और बिहार में अपने घर वालों से दूर रहते हैं , शायद इसके लिए नेता ज़िम्मेदार हैं लेकिन उन नेताओं को चुनने के लिए हम भी तो ज़िम्मेदार हैं , फिर एक नेता 'special status ' मांगने को चुनावी मुद्दा बनाता है मतलब पहले state की जनता खुद बेवकूफ सरकार चुने फिर पूरे देश की taxpayer जनता उसको चंदा दे सुधरने के लिए , मैं politics की बात क्यों कर रहा हूँ , इसका JAVA से क्या सम्बन्ध , अजी सम्बन्ध है , बहुत बड़ा सम्बन्ध है - मराठी TL जब गणपति पे मराठी team members को छुट्टी दे देता है और Chhath की छुट्टी project deadline बोल के cancel कर देता है तो politics ज़ेहन में आती है , south indian project lead जब कहता है की दिल्ली में तो बस rape होते हैं तो मन करता है की पराठे वाली गली की उस कढ़ाई में इसे ही तल दू लेकिन अगर मैं पलट के जवाब देता हू तो मैं बुरा नहीं बनता , पूरा UP -बिहार 'कमीना' हो जाता है , ये बैंगलोर और पुणे में real estate के दाम हम ही ने बढ़ाये हैं लेकिन आज भी कोई ठाकरे कभी भी पीट जाता है, घर से दूर रह के नौकरी कीजिये, पॉलिटिक्स में रूचि आ ही जाएगी साहब

फिर आज मोदी बोलेंगे की कैसे साँपों का देश अब mouse से जाना जाता है लेकिन कैसे पूरा UP - बिहार अपने ही देश में refugee बना बैठा है, इस पर भी सुन्ना चाहता है आपका एक 'भक्त' .इन सभी companies जिनके CEOs से आप मिलने जा रहे हैं उनके R&D centres यहीं हैं लेकिन क्यों रोज़ १२-१४ घंटे काम करके हमे इत्ती सैलरी दी जा रही है की हम बस अगले दिन काम पे ही आ पाएं इस पर भी कुछ सुन्ना चाहता हु Sir, खुद billing घंटों की हमे TDS काट के इतना भी नहीं मिलता की टैक्स pay करना पड़े और उसपे दिवाली की छुट्टी approve कराने के लिए reservation खुलने के 15 दिन पहले से काम ज्यादा करके मैनेजर की चापलूसी करनी पड़ती है वो अलग। ये सबसे तंग आके कुछ दोस्त MBA चले जाते है और कुछ start up खोल लेते हैं।

दिन रात एक करता था ,

इतना ही मतलब समझता था ,

सुना है बड़ी कंपनी में नौकरी भी करता है ,

चश्में का नंबर बढ़ गया है ,

एक बार फिर ध्यान से देखता है ,
शीशे वाले चेहरे को और बुदबुदाता है ,

सीबीएसई की बारहवीं के रिजल्ट आ गए हैं और अगर आज घर पे आपकी तेरहवीं मन रही है तो बहुत बहुत मुबारक।

क्या सोच रहे हो , रिश्तेदारों की तरह पेज एडमिन भी मज़ाक उड़ा रहा है , नहीं भाई , देखो ज्यादातर पता तो था ही तुम्हे की क्या आनेवाला है, किसी को बोलते नहीं थे लेकिन अंदर ही अंदर अंदाज़ा तो रहता ही है, हाँ कुछ दिन acting करो रोने धोने की, career discuss करो मामा के लड़कों से , एक दो टाइम dinner भी skip कर देना , लेकिन जब अकेले होना तो जी भर के खुद को शाबाशी देना , आसान थोड़े है सीबीएसई में कम नंबर लाना , खाली कॉपी भी छोड़ दो तो 33 दे देते हैं और कहीं पैर से लिख आओ तो भी 75% आ जाते हैं , इसलिए बहुत मेहनत और लगन से लाए हो ये मार्क्स।

खुश इसलिए होना कि अब कोई नहीं कहेगा टॉप करने को , टॉप करना दूर पास हो जाओगे न, तो भी तारीफ होगी , benchmark कोहली का बनाते तो तुलना भी मोहल्ले के सचिन से होगी, आज जब रविन्द्र जडेजा बन ही गए हो तो फिर क्या डरना , यहाँ से अच्छा ही करोगे , कोई IIT जाने के लिए नहीं बोलेगा , UPTU आ जाओ, बुरा है लेकिन अब हर कोई IIT में ही तो नहीं जा सकता , Resnic Halliday और HC वर्मा के बाहर भी एक दुनिया है , आओ इंजीनियरिंग करने , मज़ा आएगा, UPTU आ रहे हो तो और भी अच्छा है , ठोकर लगेगी, फिर खड़े होना , फिर लगेगी , फिर खड़े होंगे , फिर जब ;लगेगी तब तक आदत लग गई होगी, उठने में दर्द कम होगा, expectation word आज चला गया है , यहाँ से जो करोगे अपने लिए करोगे , अब तुमने साबित कर ही दिया है की PCM नहीं आती है तो क्यों न NIFT try करो - अपने अमेठी में खुल गया है, होटल मैनेजमेंट करो , Law के एक से एक integrated प्रोग्राम्स हैं, filmmaking करो, कुछ भी करो , अभी भी नहीं समझ रहा है की क्या करो तो कोटा जाओ और कोचिंग करो....12th पास लोगों का हरिद्वार है वो!

यकीं मानो आज ये पढ़ के लगेगा की क्या romantic writer है , यहाँ साल बर्बाद होता दिख रहा है और ये struggle में रोमांस ढूंढ रहा है, पांच साल बाद दिल्ली, मुंबई या बैंगलोर में जब सुनोगे की CBSE का 12th का रिजल्ट आया है सोचोगे की वो सही ही कहता था..........

EK Dost ki story " time lagat hai but success milta hai"

                                               ****उस दिन अगर IIT निकल गया होता तो !!!*****

sunday को अखबार पढ़ते पढ़ते , चाय की चुस्की पे ख्याल आया की अगर इंजीनियरिंग में IIT निकल गया होता तो आज मैं कहाँ होता। IIT से इंजीनियरिंग करके शायद आईआईएम से MBA करने जाता। किसी FMCG कंपनी में Branding कर रहा होता या शायद खुद की startup में लगा होता। onsite भी घूम आया होता, क्या पता USA के किसी बड़े शहर में अपने अपार्टमेंट में बैठा सोचता की quality ऑफ़ life भारत में नहीं है, बच्चों को global citizen बनाऊंगा वगैरह वगैरह ।

सवाल आया की आखिर मैं कहाँ हू और यहाँ तक कैसे आया ।

उत्तर प्रदेश के एक अव्वल दर्ज़े के कूड़ा कॉलेज से इंजीनियरिंग करी , सच पूछो तो कंप्यूटर साइंस में चार साल में एक भी कोड लिखना ही नहीं पड़ा। सब इलेक्ट्रिकल और इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स वाले पढ़ते रहते थे, हम कैंटीन और फ़ोटोस्टेट से ही पास हो जाते थे। लोग कहते थे की CS और IT are the art side of engineering , माना तो नहीं लेकिन लगने हमे भी लगा था। ये बात सही भी है की कंप्यूटर साइंस की इंजीनियरिंग की पढ़ाई आसान है लेकिन ये भी उतना ही सच है की कंप्यूटर साइंस में ही हर ३ साल बाद relevant रहने के लिए नयी language भी सीखनी पड़ती है branches को नहीं करना होता (काफी हद तक)।

कॉलेज से प्लेसमेंट नहीं हुआ था, नॉएडा में पैसे दे के , जी हाँ पैसे दे के, एक कंपनी में Java development करता था। 6 महीने की paid जॉब के बाद उसको बोला की कुछ तनख्वाह दे दो तो उसने बोला कल आके ले लेना। अगले दिन जब pay स्लिप दी तो जितनी सैलरी महीने के 26 दिन की बनी थी, ४ sunday की छुट्टी की काट ली गयी थी और Net Pay 'Zero' लिखा था। आज भी keyboard पे ये टाइप करते करते रोए खड़े हो गए हैं। उस दिन बेहिसाब रोया था रजनीगंधा चौक पे खड़े होके।

डेढ़ साल हो चुके थे, कंपनी वालों ने पता नहीं काम देख के, या तरस खा के 1 .5 लाख सैलरी कर दी थी। नॉएडा में ४ लोगों के साथ एक रूम में PG में रहते थे। एक दिन गुडगाँव की एक कंपनी से कॉल आया, नाम था IBM, इंटरव्यू देने गए तो पता लगा ऑफ रोल पोजीशन है , सोचा चलो कम से कम IBM के ऑफिस में बैठेंगे। सब दोस्तों को , मम्मी पापा को बता दिया की IBM ज्वाइन की है। एक महीने सब अच्छा चला , खूब काम कराया गया , हमने भी जी जान से काम किया , एक दिन ऑफिस गए , बाहर घुमटी में सुट्टा मारा, ऊपर जा के access card स्वाइप किया तो नहीं चला, दोबारा किया, फिर नहीं चला। पास बैठा security गार्ड हसने लगा, बोला की अब नहीं चलेगा, दो दिन बाद आके अपनी drawer का सामान लेते जाना। किसी तरहं खुद को बटोर के वहां से बाहर तक आया और सड़क पे बैठ के घंटो रोया। उस दिन पता लगा की दुःख से भी बड़ा emotion बेइज़्ज़ती है। फिर रोते रोते घर फ़ोन किया , बताया की मम्मी निकाल दिया, और कहते कहते फिर रोने लगा। हमेशा याद रखना , बहुत दुःख में घर वालों को कभी फ़ोन मत करना, वो परेशां हो जाते हैं और उससे भी ज्यादा असहाय।

कुछ दिन और बेरोज़गार रहे फिर, एक recruitment ड्राइव में गुडगाँव की एक कंपनी में सॉफ्टवेयर डेवलपर बन गए। दो साल होने को थे और पैकेज कम्भख्त अभी भी डेढ़ लाख। ये वो दिन थे जब को पूछता था की कहाँ काम करते हो तो कहता था गुडगाँव में , जब वो दोबारा पूछता था की कहाँ काम करते हो तो फिर से कह देता है Java प्लेटफार्म पे। एक दिन एक कंपनी से कॉल आया , सारे round निकाल के HR राउंड में पहुंचे। HR ने पूछा current CTC , हम बोले 1. 5 लाख , वो बोली expected CTC , हम बोले 3 लाख , वो बोली १००% hike मांग रहे हो , तो हमने कहा mam दो साल से Java डेवलपमेंट कर रहा हू , मार्किट रेट के हिसाब से इतना तो मिलना ही चाहिए। वो हसी और बोली , हम associate सॉफ्टवेयर developer को 4. 5 लाख कम नहीं दे सकते , इतना तुम deserve करते हो। बाहर निकल के खुद को चुटकी काटी , उस दिन भी खूब रोया था लेकिन इन आंसुओं में कुछ अलग था ।

आज भी उसी कंपनी में हू , Architect हू , दो साल लंदन क्लाइंट location में रह लिया, लेकिन माँ बाप से दूर अच्छा नहीं लगा तो वापिस आ गया। टीम में कई बच्चे IIT के हैं जो सब मुझे रिपोर्ट करते हैं। रोज़ ऑफिस के रस्ते में वो सड़क भी आती है जिनमे बैठ के घंटो रोया था और खुद को समझा लेता हु की वो भी रास्ता था, ये भी रास्ता है. मंज़िल यहाँ नहीं है। कल लंच में एक टीम member बोल पड़ा , AI और Machine Learning आ जायेगा तो क्या करेंगे, तब नौकरी कैसे ढूंढेगे। मै मुस्कुराया और बोला की कुछ तो कर ही लेंगे।

चाय ख़तम हो गयी थी और मैं सामने टंगे कैलेंडर में कृष्ण भगवान को देख के सोच रहा था कि अच्छा हुआ जो उस दिन IIT नहीं निकला।

These are the most comman mistake first-time entrepreneurs

1. Keeping your idea secret.
This is one of the most stupid misconceptions about startup ideas (If I tell it to someone they'll steal it and make millions of it) Reality is that every loser has a business idea with a potential but most are not capable to execute it. And people who are able to execute ideas have plenty of their own. Of course, it's the execution not the idea - facebook came after friendster and myspace and google came after plenty of search engines.

2. Trying to build a product for everyone.
He who tries to please everybody, pleases nobody.

3. Lack of focus.
All entrepreneurs are cursed with having too many ideas that are too tempting not to be executed. The point is to be able to put everything else aside and focus on one with best timing and most potential. Jack Dorsey mentioned somwhere that he had his Twitter idea almost a decade before he started it and put it in shelf - which is his way of clearing distractions.

4. Ignoring cash-flow.
As already mentioned in many answers confusing cash-flow or ignoring it is surest way to fail.

5. Quitting too early + not failing soon enough.
Quitting and failing are 2 different things. Failing soon is about not wasting time (or falling in love) with features once you have enough evidence they aren't going to make profit - you should seek that evidence all the time. Quitting on another hand is giving up to circumstances while knowing that what you are doing can work and will make you happy.

6. Wasting time on what competition does.
I once got across a Tweet saying: "If you spend all your time looking at your competition your product will end up looking like competitions ass."

7. Picking the wrong co-founder and not having a shareholder's agreement in place.
Talking or wishing and doing are two separate things, when you are motivated and excited everyone feels like a winner. All people tend to overestimate themselves, however once it comes to action many back off or find reasons and excuses to go for the easy and safe route. Making sure you aren't giving equity to a "co-founder" before you get a proof is what shareholder's agreements are made for.

8. Issuing equity too early.
Many people you hire early on may only have a half-hearted commitment and ambitions on their own. Once I was going to offer small part of equity to an advisor and I had a chat about it with one experienced partner in a law firm. He told me:

"Why would you need an advisor who only does it for equity? Get people who are excited about your product and want to help out because of that excitement and belief in it, then after a year or more you can talk about equity."

Same thing with stock options, the ideal time frame should be around 5 years, if you give it to someone after 1 year of working they can simply walk away and take a free ride while you're working your ass off increasing the value of their stake.

9. Too many features - over complicating.
Everybody knows why Apple was so successful. Here's a quote from Albert Einstein that sums it up nicely:

"Any darn fool can make something complex it takes a genius to make something simple."
It's the simplicity not complexity that sells (and makes it hard to build)

10. Not seeking or using customer feedback.
"Well they may not tell you what you should build but they can surely tell what's wrong" - as Bill Gates believes.

Not Recommended? Here Is What To Do After That

Rejections hurt, especially when it from something you dream about, work hard for, they hurt even more when it is the nth time that you are getting rejected. Every candidate who suffers rejection in SSB, can very well relate to the sadness which comes after it. The candidates who do not get a chance to hear their chest numbers in those lucky to be officer list, know that the next few days are going to be difficult. But it is not the end of the world, though it is end of one SSB and to you both seem like same thing at that time. Here’s is to what should follow after getting rejected from SSB:


There is no point cribbing about the selection system, it is not going to change, so you need to stop doing that first. Stop being critical about the selection system.

Yes that candidate who got selected did not deserve it, but still got through, and see here you are, having all the qualities oozing out still not recommended. But you can’t do anything about it, again stop comparing and looking critically as to who got selected.

No board is a rejection board. They want you as much as you want that job. Keep the myths away. Many people will tell you many things, need not believe everything.

Repeaters have a hard chance, no, absolutely not. If you have chances ahead it is never the end, you can try with better preparation every time again.

The earlier you stop thinking about your previous SSB, the better. Old bad things need to go for new good things to come, but they should go only after leaving the lesson. So draw the lesson out of your attempt.

See the positives, ignore the negatives. See the good things you learnt after going to SSB (for me it was learning to play pool), which you would have not learned otherwise, it’ll fill you with good thoughts.

Be happy for the candidates who got selected, learn positive things from them, congratulate them from heart. If you learn to be happy for others you reach an super level of awesomeness!

Sit down, analyze from day one, to the last day, write down the questions asked, your answers, it’ll help you later to understand what went wrong. Since everything is fresh you can remember now, but will be difficult later.

Note down all the important dates, for all the forms you need to apply for. Keep on applying for the new entries whichever comes up next. Never lose hope. Never give up, the quality of a true officer.

Start preparing for your next SSB. Seek for an expert help, if you feel it is needed. Be very wise before choosing any coaching. So do all the groundwork needed for preparation.

Falling down is easy, getting up is not. You need to really get up and put in all your efforts so that you can achieve your dream goal.

   GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR SSB

   
   

   APPROACH TO SSB

   Group behavior starts as soon as you meet others at the SSB Centre.

    Candidates assess each other for their competence, as well as sociability. This process is unrelated to the formal assessment, but influences it.

   Please go for the SSB with the conviction of being selected, without any self doubts. This will positively affect your personality & influence others accordingly.
   

   Do not consider others as rivals, who have to be beaten, for you to be selected. Approach with a philosophy: “let us all perform well, & along with others, I should also get selected”. The usual philosophy prevailing in the world, “I should get selected at the expense of others” is unsuited for selection in SSB.

   Having good general knowledge, expression & a friendly nature positively impacts your social rating by peers, & will positively impact your chances of selection as well. It will have an impact on the tests as well. E.g In the group, before the tests, you start discussing some current affairs topic. Most of the group will have superficial knowledge, based on TV headlines news or news paper headlines. One or two may have deeper analytical knowledge based on their having read editorials on the topic. Naturally these candidates will be more respected by others.

   5 DAYS SSB SCHEDULE 

    

   DAY 1 (REPORTING DAY)

   As per the call letter, usually the reporting time is in the afternoon& place is Movement Control Office (MCO), located at the Railway Station. You will not find it difficult as there will be many other candidates who will be scheduled to report on the same day, & you are likely to find some of them.

   For some entries reporting day and Screening day are same, so please follow your call letters for correct information. In such case reporting time is likely to be early morning, like 0700 hours.

   On reporting day you are given a detailed brief about the tests & instructions & timings for various things. PIQ (Personal Information Questionnaire) forms are to be filled (similar to the one which I get filled).

   DAY 2. STAGE 1 TESTING OR SCREENING

   Screening is the process designed to select potential candidates, from all those who have reported for the particular entry, for Stage 2 of testing, or complete SSB process. It comprises the following:

   OFFICER’S INTELLIGENCE RATING (OIR) TEST

   It is similar to the intelligence tests of reasoning (verbal & non-verbal) given in various competitive examinations preparatory books & magazines. Reasoning ability, as well as speed of reasoning is important. It is advisable to practice these to get a good score.

   SCREENING TEST

   PICTURE PERCEPTION & DESCRIPTION TEST (PPDT)

   Requirement

   It involves two aspects- first is writing a story, & second is a discussion on the story.

   You will be shown a black & white, hazy picture for 30 secs.

   You are required to write some particulars in the available box in the answer sheet, which includes No of Characters, their Age, Sex & Mood.

   You have to identify the main character & build the story around him/her. It is convenient to name the character (helps in discussion stage).

   You are required to describe what the scene in the picture depicts (what is going on).

   You have to visualize & write, what led to the present scene (what happened in the past).

   You have to foresee the future & write it. (What will happen in the future).

   The entire story has to be written in about 3 mins & submitted.

   Tips for Story Writing

   Avoid

   Pre-prepared Story. Some coached candidates (generally ACC & SCO entries), come with a misconception that the time is too less to make a story & hence come with a pre-prepared story & fit it there. Often the main character in such stories is narrated as a young man who joins the Defence Services & also gets a decoration! There is nothing in the picture to suggest any of these things. There are several such “positive” coaching academy type stories which can be easily found out by the assessors. Such stories have an adverse impact on the clearance of the Stage 1 by the subject candidate.

   Stories Displaying Wrong Interpretation of Positive Thinking. Experience shows that quite a few coached candidates are over enthusiastic about “positive thinking” & display it in an unnatural manner in their stories.  E.g: In an obviously tragic scene such candidates will state that the mood of the main character is positive. Such stories can be easily found out & have an adverse impact on the clearance of the Stage 1 by the subject candidate.

   Abide

   Write a natural & realistic story that comes to your mind on seeing the picture. The moods, etc of characters should be stated as observed.

   POSITIVE THINKING MEANS THAT EVEN IF THE PICTURE SHOWS SOMETHING ADVERSE, OR TRAGIC, THE CANDIDATE FORESEES THAT IN THE FUTURE THINGS WILL BECOME ALL RIGHT, WITH THE MAIN CHARACTER PLAYING A PROACTIVE PART IN THE SAME.

   THE MAIN CHARACTER SHOULD BE PROACTIVE & DO SOMETHING FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THE EXISTING SITUATION.

   Discussion Requirement

   Candidates are organized in groups of 14-15 for group discussion. Each candidate is required to narrate his story by turn. After everyone has narrated his/her story the group is required to discuss the same & arrive at a consensus story. The group is required to nominate a leader who has to narrate the story on behalf of the entire group.

   Tips for Discussion:

   • Narrate your story confidently in a clear voice in about one minute.

4. Remain confident about being selected, remain relaxed & do not feel pressurized to force your views on others, in the fear that others will dominate you.

5. Never look at the assessors while narrating the story, or during the discussion.

6. Listen to the speakers attentively.

7. Be polite, give your ideas & views only, & do not argue with others.

8. IN CASE THE ENTIRE GROUP IS SHOUTING, AS HAPPENS IN SOME REPEATER GROUPS, DO NOT TRY TO OUT SHOUT OTHERS, BUT AWAIT YOUR TURN PATIENTLY.

9. Do not try to dominate the discussion by speaking more. The quality of your views is more important than how much you speak.

10. Do not repeat your views.

11. Help the weak members to talk.

12. If the story of the majority of the group is similar to yours, it is easy to contribute to the discussion.

13. In case your story is different from the entire group, it is sensible to change your views & help the group in forming a consensus story, rather than trying to guide the group towards your perspective.

    Results of Screening:  After the completion of PPDT, you will get a break of 2-3 hours. Screening results will be declared after it. Selected candidates are allotted with new chest numbers. Rest of the candidates gets their TA and dropped backed to the railway station.

     

    DAY 3 STAGE-2 OF TESTING

    PSYCHOLOGY TESTS IN SSB

    Understanding Psychology Tests in SSB

    Personality assessment conducted in SSBs is based on the science of Psychology. Psychology is not an absolute science, unlike the physical sciences known to us. It implies that there are not always absolute & definite yes, or no answers to problems, or situations.

    The battery of psychology tests conducted in SSB is based on Projective techniques.

      Projective techniques work on the established fact that when we describe ambiguous stimuli, we actually describe ourselves, & reveal our personalities, the conscious part (of which we are well aware) & even the unconscious part (of which we are unaware)! The unconscious part of the brain is assessed by some as being 9/10^th part & conscious only 1/10^th part.

    In Projective techniques, a person is shown ambiguous stimuli (such as words, situations or pictures) and asked to interpret them in some way. Such stimuli allow relative freedom in projecting one’s own interests and feelings into them, reacting in any way that seems appropriate. Projective techniques are believed to be sensitive to unconscious dimensions of personality. Defense mechanisms, latent impulses, and anxieties can be inferred from data gathered from projective techniques by expert psychologists. Assessment by expert psychologists is an art & not a science.

    Assessment of an individual is done based on the entire written tests & not piece meal, like separate assessment of WAT, TAT & SRT.  Personality of an individual is one whole, the various inputs help to construct it.

    HOW DOES IT AFFECT CANDIDATES?

    PLEASE DO NOT WASTE UNNECESSARY TIME TO PRACTICE ALL THESE TESTS. WORK TO GENUINELY IMPROVE YOUR PERSONALITY, LEAVE THE ASSESSMENT TO THE EXPERTS!

    Following  Psychology tests are  conducted:

        Thematic Apperception Test [TAT]

        Word Association Test [WAT]

        Situation Reaction Test [SRT]

        Self Description Test [SD]

    TAT

        You will be shown 11 black & white pictures in which the last picture is a blank slide. Each picture will come just for 30 seconds and then disappear, after that you will get 4 minutes to write the story based on that picture. After 4 mins another picture will come for 30 seconds and same process will be followed till last slide {blank slide}. The tips for TAT are the same as for the story of PPDT. Go prepared with the story for the blank slide.

    WAT

        You will be shown 60 words back to back; each word will remain on the screen for 15secs. In 15secs you are required to write a sentence which comes to your mind first after reading that word. Likewise you have to write 60 sentences continuously without any pause in between.

    Tips:

    It is not possible to go prepared with 60 sentences, as some coached candidates try to do & in fact succeed in writing quite a few such sentences. This does not help, because only the spontaneous response is consistent with the personality of the candidate. The psychologist analyses the complete responses to construct a holistic & consistent personality of the individual. Any prepared response will be inconsistent with the complete battery of answers & hence will get ignored.

        SRT

    You will get a booklet with 60 situations written on it. You are required to write your responses based on those 60 situations. Time allotted will be 30 mins.

    Tips: Answer spontaneously. The main character in the situations should be a leader, who should try to resolve the problems proactively for the betterment of everyone & not wait for things to happen.

        SD

    You are required to write opinion about you from your parents, friends, teachers & yourself, and things which you would like to develop in the future. Time allotted will be 15 mins.

    Tips: You should go prepared. Write the truth. Opinions of others, as well as yourself about you are basically a brief about your strong & weak points. The strong points should be more than the weak points. In case the reverse is true, it shows that you have not taken enough action to improve yourself, despite being aware of your weaknesses.

    OVERALL TIPS FOR PSYCHOLOGY TESTS

    THINK FAST; WRITE FAST, LEGIBLY & IN CORRECT SEQUENCE.

    IT IS NOT MANDATORY TO COMPLETE EVERYTHING, BUT THE CANDIDATE WHO CAN COMPLETE EVERYTHING DEFINITELY THINKS FASTER & HAS BETTER MENTAL STAMINA THAN THE ONE WHO DOES NOT.

    DAYS 4 & 5: GTO TESTS

    GTO tests are a series of outdoor tests, designed to judge your qualities during group performance. Remember most of the tasks in this series are group tasks. You are required to support the group with the best of your abilities and not to compete with them in any manner.

    SERIES OF TESTS:

        GD:

    Discussion is on two topics, one is a debatable topic from current affairs & the other is on a social issue.

    Tips: Are same as for PPDT discussion.

    GPE: GROUP PLANNING EXERCISE

    It is an important test in the GTO series. A situation is given to you. It is supported by a map. Invariably a group of persons has to go from one place to another, in a limited time & accomplish an important task. In between problems are confronted which need to be resolved, & in case a problem is unimportant & resolution will prevent  you from accomplishing the main task then it has to be ignored, or resolved to the extent that the main task is not jeopardized. A written, individual, solution has to be submitted. The group has to discuss the plan, arrive at a consensus plan, and nominate a leader to narrate the plan. It is a comprehensive test, which brings out the aspects of logical thinking, ability to convince others with your views, accept ideas from others which are better than yours, or are more acceptable to others.

    Tips: Concentrate to understand the situation well. Submit a comprehensive & well written plan. Be prepared to accept others’ ideas. Do not try to resolve any intermediary problem which will prevent you from accomplishing the main task.

        PGT

    In Progressive Group Task, the group is required to cross some obstacles with the help of supporting materials like rope, plank, wooden log etc. Some rules are required to be followed during this task. It is a full group activity.

        HGT

    Half Group Task is similar to PGT but the number of group members will be half, so you may get more chance to show your potential.

        IOT

    In Individual Obstacles Task, you are required to attempt 10 obstacles individually; each obstacle consists of some points from 1 to 10.

    Tips: It appears to be mainly a test of speed & strength, but is not so. Plan the sequence of crossing the obstacles with a view to score maximum marks earliest. If you are in doubt about clearing an obstacle attempt it towards the end. In case you have begun to cross an obstacle, then do not leave it in between, as this displays lack of determination & self confidence.

    COMMAND TASK

        You will be a commander in this task, & are required to cross some obstacles with the help of 2-3 subordinates. You can choose 2-3 candidates from your own group whom you think can help you to clear the obstacles.

    Tips: Choose subordinates based on competence, rather than friendship. In case you are stuck, ask ideas from subordinates. CT is assigned to each candidate based on his abilities. In case your CT is quite difficult, then be happy, your IQ has been well rated.

    SNAKE RACE/GROUP OBSTACLE RACE

         All group members will be competing with other groups. Members will be holding a snake like rope; they are required to cross certain obstacles with the snake. There are certain rules like all other tasks. It is a kind of race among different groups.

    Tips: Use your abilities to help the group finish the race fastest.

    INDIVIDUAL LECTURRETE

     Each candidate has to speak for 3 mins on a topic selected by him/her out of 3-4 topics.

    FGT: FINAL GROUP TASK

    FGT is similar to PGT.

    Tips for PGT, HGT, CT & FGT: Initially it will be difficult to understand the use of the helping material in crossing obstacles. Do not worry, keep thinking & observing. Ideas utilized in crossing one obstacle will have relevance in others as well.  After PGT you will have better ideas for later tasks. Each task has more than one solution. Please adhere to instructions.

    PERSONAL INTERVIEW IN THE AFTERNOON OF DAY 4 OR 5

    The Interviewing officer has your Personal Information Questionnaire (PIQ) form, which provides him the base for your interview. He starts talking in a relaxed manner to make you feel comfortable. He then asks you a series of questions to which you are expected to answer in the same sequence. He keeps asking small questions in between. He again asks you a series of questions, to be replied as earlier.

    Tips: Be relaxed & confident of being selected. Write only truth in the PIQ form, without exaggeration. Listen carefully to the questions, without getting excited. Answer the questions in the sequence asked. Have good knowledge about your favorite subjects, sports, hobbies, etc. If you say that you have read a book, or seen a movie, or TV program, then you should know about it well.

    Be prepared to explain organization of an event from your hobbies, sports or extra -curricular activities, you have been involved in.

    DAY 6: CONFERENCE IN SSB

    In the conference each candidate faces all the SSB assessors together. Decision about selection of candidates is taken in the conference by the assessors.  Each case is discussed in detail to take a deliberate decision. AS REGARDS YOU, IT IS JUST A FORMALITY, AS DECISIONS ARE TAKEN BASED ON TESTS CONDUCTED EARLIER & NOT CONFERENCE. Usually questions about food, experience & stay are asked by the Interviewing Officer. Only short answers are warranted.

वाराणसी का गोविंद रिक्शा चलाने वाले निर्धन, अनपढ़ नारायण जायसवाल का बेटा है। एक कमरे के घर में रहने वाला गोविंद घर के आसपास चलने वाली फैक्टरियों और जेनरेटरों की तेज आवाजों के बीच पढ़ते वक्त कानों में रुई डाले रखता था। उसे पढ़ते देखकर लोग कटाक्ष करते- कितना भी पढ़ लो बेटा, चलाना तो तुम्हें रिक्शा ही है। गोविंद को इन बातों से कोई फर्क नहीं पड़ता था। उसके मन में तो एक ऐसा संकल्प था, जिसे दूसरों को बताना भी संभव नहीं था, सब हंसी जो उड़ाते। लेकिन झोपड़ी में रहने वाले उसी गोविंद जायसवाल को जब भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा (आईएएस) में चुने जाने की खबर मिली तो उसकी आंखों से आंसू बह निकले। अभावों और कटाक्षों से भरे जीवन को अपनी मेहनत, संकल्प और प्रतिभा के बल पर परास्त करने पर जो खुशी हुई, उसकी अभिव्यक्ति हंसी से नहीं, बल्कि आंसुओं से ही हो सकती थी। आंसू खुशी और दुख के ही नहीं, विजय के भी होते हैं।

मणिपुर में इम्फाल की जेनिथ अकादमी में पढ़ने वाला मोहम्मद इस्मत, जिसने अभी सीबीएसई की बारहवीं की परीक्षा में 500 में से 495 अंक हासिल कर पूरे भारत में पहला स्थान प्राप्त किया, ऐसी ही एक कमाल की मिसाल है। गणित, रसायन शास्त्र, कला और गृह विज्ञान में सौ में से सौ अंक पाने वाले इस्मत को अंग्रेजी में 98 और भौतिक शास्त्र में 97 अंक मिले। एक प्राथमिक विद्यालय के शिक्षक के पुत्र इस्मत ने न सिर्फ अपने माता-पिता, विद्यालय या अपने थौबाल जिले का नाम रोशन किया, बल्कि उसने तो पूरे उत्तर-पूर्वी क्षेत्र को गौरव दिलाया है, जहां का कोई भी बच्चा अब तक राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर 'मेरिट' में शीर्ष पर नहीं आया था। पर असंभव कुछ भी नहीं है।

अटूट आत्मविश्वास

गोविन्द हो या फिर मोहम्मद इस्मत, एक बात जिसे आप बिल्कुल नजरंदाज नहीं कर सकते वह है उनका अटूट आत्मविश्वास। उन्हें अपनी कक्षा के दूसरे बच्चों की तरह न तो ट्यूशन मिलती है और न ही अच्छे स्कूल। न अतिरिक्त किताबें ही पढ़ने को मिलती हैं और न ही इंटरनेट जैसी कोई सहूलियत है। कई बार तो बुनियादी जरूरत की किताबें और यहां तक कि पढ़ाई में लगाने के लिए समय तक नहीं मिलता।
चंडीगढ़ में 'थिएटर एज' के नाम का एक गैरसरकारी संगठन झुग्गी-झोपड़ियों में रहने वाले बच्चों को पढ़ाता है। इस बार भी समाज के सबसे गरीब तबके के बीस बच्चों ने इस संगठन के निर्देशन में पढ़ाई की और बीसों अच्छे अंक लेकर पास हो गए। अभाव सिर्फ आर्थिक नहीं होते और शायद आर्थिक अभावों का मुकाबला फिर भी आसान है, मगर शारीरिक अक्षमताओं, अपंगता, नेत्रहीनता जैसी दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण स्थितियों से लड़ते हुए कठिन पैमानों पर खरा उतरना आसान नहीं। ऐसे में गुड़गांव के छात्र सुनीत आनंद चमचमाते सितारे के रूप में सामने आते हैं। आंख के कैंसर के रोगी सुनीत ने अस्पताल में दाखिल कराए जाने के बावजूद पढ़ने-लिखने के प्रति लगन नहीं छोड़ी और बारहवीं में करीब 89 फीसदी अंक लेकर आए। अंबिका खट्टर, क्षिप्रा कुमारी कर्दम, किरण टोकस..... और दर्जनों ऐसे ही दूसरे नेत्रहीन छात्रों ने बारहवीं की परीक्षा में अपने माता-पिता को गौरव दिलाया है और अब जीवन के अगले पड़ाव की तैयारी कर रहे हैं। मुंबई के राम रत्न विद्या मंदिर के गौतम गाबा को कितनी ही शाबाशी दी जाए, कम है, जिसने अस्थि कैंसर से पीड़ित होते हुए भी सीबीएसई की दसवीं की परीक्षा में 92 फीसदी अंक हासिल कर शीर्ष छात्रों की सूची में नाम दर्ज कराया। पिछले एक साल में सात महीने तक वह कैंसर के इलाज के लिए अस्पताल में भर्ती था।

प्रतिभा सुविधाओं की मोहताज नहीं

इन छात्रों की सफलता एक बार फिर सिद्ध करती है कि प्रतिभाएं सुविधाओं की मोहताज नहीं होतीं और प्रतिभाओं को किसी भी किस्म की बाधा रोक नहीं सकती। ऐसे बच्चे कभी हमें डा. अंबेडकर की याद दिलाते हैं तो कभी लाल बहादुर शास्त्री की। अमरीका के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति अब्राहम लिंकन का जीवन भी तो ऐसे ही अभावों में गुजरा था। लेकिन जहां चाह, वहां राह। लिंकन ने बाद में कहा था- हमेशा याद रखो कि सफलता के लिए किसी दूसरी चीज की तुलना में सिर्फ एक बात अहमियत रखती है, और वह है तुम्हारा दृढ़ संकल्प।
झोपड़ियों के अंधेरे में बैठकर उजाले की तलाश करने वाले आज के नौनिहालों को भी अपने सामने खड़ी विकट चुनौतियों का अहसास है, लेकिन उन्हीं के भीतर से रास्ता निकालने के सिवाय कोई चारा भी नहीं है। ट्यूशन करते हुए अपनी पढ़ाई का खर्च उठाने वाले गोविन्द ने आईएएस के लिए चुने जाने के बाद कहा था- 'मैं किसी छोटी सरकारी नौकरी के लिए तो चुना ही नहीं जा सकता था, क्योंकि वहां किसे लिया जाएगा, यह पहले से ही तय है। मैं जानता था कि मेरे पास आईएएस के सिवाय कोई चारा ही नहीं है और इसीलिए मैं डटा रहा।' धन्य हैं ये प्रतिभाएं जो कैसी-कैसी विडम्बनाओं के बीच से उभर रही हैं।

ऐसे में उन लोगों के लिए सहज ही श्रद्धा जगती है जो अभावग्रस्त बच्चों का जीवन बदलने का संकल्प लेकर आगे बढ़ रहे हैं। मिसाल के तौर पर सुपर-30 नामक समूह का संचालन करने वाले आनंद कुमार, जो पटना में बरसों से वंचित, शोषित, पीड़ित और निर्धन परिवारों के तीस बच्चों को प्रतिवर्ष आईआईटी में दाखिले के लिए मुफ्त 'कोचिंग' देते आए हैं। साधारण से बच्चों को तराशकर कोहिनूर बनाना कोई उनसे सीखे। उनके पढ़ाए पच्चीस से ज्यादा बच्चे हर साल अपनी गरीबी को अलविदा कहते हुए विश्व के सर्वश्रेष्ठ तकनीकी संस्थानों में गिने जाने वाले भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थानों में प्रवेश पाते हैं। इस साल भी उन्होंने 27 गरीब छात्रों का जीवन बदल दिया। आनंद कुमार खुद भी अभावपूर्ण पृष्ठभूमि से आए हैं इसलिए उनके जज्बे को समझना मुश्किल नहीं है। उन्होंने बड़े-बड़े संस्थानों में ऊंचे पदों पर काम करने और मोटी तनख्वाह लेने के प्रस्ताव ठुकराते हुए गरीब छात्रों को निशुल्क 'कोचिंग' देने का रास्ता चुना। लेकिन वे बच्चे भी कम नहीं हैं जो अपने इस गुरू के विश्वास पर खरा उतरने में कोई कसर बाकी नहीं छोड़ते।

तीन नेटवर्क बनाएं

सफलता के लिए तीन नेटवर्क जरूरी हैं। जबकि ज्यादातर लोग एक ही नेटवर्क पर फोकस करते हैं। अच्छे रिजल्ट के लिए तीनों नेटवर्क को डेवलप करें।
1. ऑपरेशनल नेटवर्क आज के लिए हैं। इसमें उन सभी लोगों को रखें जिन पर आप अपने काम के लिए निर्भर कर सकते हैं। इसमें करीबी लोगों को लिया जा सकता है।

2. डेवलपमेंटल नेटवर्क में अपने विश्वसनीय लोगों को रखें। उनसे आप सुझाव भी ले सकते हैं। कुछ ऐसे लोगों को चुनें जो
आपकी सोच को बदलने की क्षमता रखते हों।

3. स्ट्रेटेजिक नेटवर्क भविष्य के लिए है। यह आपको आने वाली सफलताओं के लिए तैयार करता है। इस नेटवर्क में उन लोगों को शामिल करें जो आने वाले समय में आपकी मदद करेंगे।

धारणा न बनाएं बातचीत करें

आप ये नहीं जानते कि दूसरा व्यक्ति क्या सोच रहा है। इसलिए कोई धारणा न बनाएं। दूसरे व्यक्ति से बातचीत करके उसके विचारों को जानने की कोशिश करें।
बिजनेस में किसी तरह की बहस को जंग न समझें। हार-जीत का फैसला करने की बजाय दूसरे व्यक्ति को बेहतर ढंग से समझें।

किसी एक व्यक्ति की बात को अंतिम सच न समझ लें। एक बात या घटना को लेकर हर व्यक्ति का अपना नजरिया होता है। इसलिए दिमाग से काम लें।

डाटा को सही तरीके से समझने के लिए टीम की मदद लें। डाटा में बदलते ट्रेंड्स पर उनकी राय भी जानें।
