Top 10 interview questions with answers

We all are afraid of interviews. Whenever we think of the word “interview”, a little unusual feeling of discomfort arises. Even though we have got good marks and our communication skill is also apt but still we are not enough confident to face an interview. It is seen that students who have scored 80 to 85 % marks didn’t get a job just because they stumbled upon an interview question and an average student shining high just because he was well prepared.

So here are the Top 10 interview questions with  answer.

Q.1) “Tell me about yourself “
Ans.1) Most of the time an interview starts with a question where you have to tell about yourself. Outline your main attributes and qualities which are related to the job. Avoid personal information like your family or your back ground but keep glued to convey the information relevant for the job. Keep is short, well rehearsed and be confident while speaking. No one knows you better than yourself.

Q.2) “What is your greatest accomplishment ? ” or “Tell me about an achievement of which you are proud?”

Ans.2) ” I was the captain of my school team.” ” I successfully cleared my maths exam in one attempt.” Well this is definitely not the right answer. Try to explain the achievement related to work and showcase the skills you used to achieve it. This is the right time to show how you can help a particular company. For example if you answer “ ’my greatest achievement has been to design a new system thus improving our debtors’ position significantly, saving the company 50,00 Rs. per month in interest’. or “How you solved a problem which company was facing by doing a thorough research”. Try to give exact answer instead of going round and round.

Q.3)”What are your strengths ? “

Ans.3) Don’t get confused with your strengths and your accomplishment. Strength is used to achieve these accomplishments. So don’t mix these two questions. Focus on giving your strengths which you think is related to job. “Ability to learn quickly, dedication towards work, punctuality, positive attitude, ability to mix up with people” these are few strengths which you can add but make sure you have this as you might be asked how. In that case you have to give an example related to that strength so be prepared.

Q.4)”What is your greatest weakness ? ” or “What are your weakness ? “

Ans.4) One of the trickiest question. Do not say that you have no weakness. Obviously you have a weakness, you are not a God or a Robot. This is the time to show your creativity. Make your strength as your weakness. Do not ever say that I am emotional or my family is my weakness. Try to give example where you had a weakness but how you over came it. One example could be, ‘I know my team think I’m too demanding at times - I tend to drive them pretty hard but this is how work is done”  Another example ” Getting into the depth of the work and analyzing every detail is yet another problem I am facing”. So this is a double edged answer which you can give.

Q.5) “Why did you leave your last job ?” or “What do you dislike about your last job?”

Ans.5) Never ever complain or blame your last job or the company you were working with. Never give less salary as an excuse as why you left the job. Be cautious about your answer. The safest way to answer is that you were not getting enough challenges their or how this job is a better job for your growth. Answer confidently how you are looking for a new challenge, a new environment where you can work for what you are trained.

Q.6) “What is the worst problem you have ever faced and how you tackled it ? “

Ans.6) Be ready, another tricky question is on the way. By asking this question the interviewer wants to know what is your definition of difficulty, what are your weakness, how do you react on a problem etc. Don’t ever explain any personal problem. Try to give an example related to work. Rather than focusing on the problem concentrate more on how you solved it. Try to end it on a positive note where you solved the problem.

Q.7) “Why do you want to work with us ? ” or “Why did you applied for this job ?”

Ans.7)Time to attack. This is the correct time to show that you are prepared and had done your research work.Answer how much you know about the organisation and how the job fits you. Explain by taking the positive points of the company. Answer like ” I would love to join an organisation which not only produces goods and sale them but also makes a inevitable relationship with the customers.” Don’t show yourself like you are buttering. Stick to the point and explain everything you know about the organisation.

Q.8) “Where do you see yourself after 5 years ? “

Ans.8) So here is another question which can destroy your chances of getting selected. By asking this question the interviewer wants to know whether you are dedicated towards your work or not, whether you have set any goal or not. Try to explain your future goals and show how much you are concerned about your future. It shows how responsible you are.
“I would hope that by then my hard work and enthusiasm would have led to increased recognition and responsibility within the organisation.” – best answer you can give.

Q.9) “How much you are expecting for salary?”

Ans.9) Don’t get excited you are not yet selected. Directly answering a certain amount will ruin the game. Try to give your answer in a range like 30k to 35k. Do a proper research on how much the job is worth of. There are chances that you might answer with a low amount and end up with a low salary. So do your homework sincerely. Another way you can reply is by asking a question how much salary the position warrants. Don’t ever let the interviewer think that money is your only and top most priority.

Q.10) “Do you have any question you want to ask ? “

Ans.10) This is probably the last question. So here is your chance to end this on a positive note. Don’t leave this chance of becoming an interviewer otherwise it would be considered that you are not much interested in the job. Don’t ask the obvious questions whose answers you could have by proper research. Try to ask about working hours, your area of work, kind of people you would wok with.

Always remember “IF YOU FAIL TO PLAN, YOU PLAN TO FAIL”

ALL THE BEST !!!!
